Welcome aboard, Jolanda! It sounds like you're in the beginning stages of planning your very first sailing with Disney Cruise Line! Isn't it so exciting to browse the itineraries and ships to find the one that will be perfect for your family?
Disney Cruise Line's staterooms fall into different categories. The VGT that you mentioned is a Verandah stateroom guarantee. On certain sailings, usually as the cruise approaches and staterooms are still available, sometimes Disney will offer "guarantee" bookings. This means that you book a stateroom without actually choosing the exact location of the stateroom as you normally would, but you're guaranteed to be assigned, at a later date, a stateroom in that category or better. The VGT means you're guaranteed to be assigned a verandah stateroom, but you just won't know which one it is until just before your sail date. I like taking advantage of the guarantees when they are offered because they are priced lower than the traditional rate for that category of stateroom.
My family and I have stayed in staterooms in all different categories, and all different locations of the ship and of course, we have our favorites, but for a great price, I wouldn't turn down the opportunity to let Disney pick the stateroom for me, if I can save some money to use later for
Port Adventures or
souvenirs onboard! I've booked an Oceanview stateroom guarantee before and ended up with a verandah! That doesn't always happen, but if you book it, knowing you'd be perfectly happy with the category you choose, you may just be surprised and get something even more magical!
Jolanda, please stop back with more questions as you continue to plan your Disney Cruise Line adventure!
