Is the Castaway Cay 5k run only at specific times?

    Ahoy, Jennifer!

One of my favorite activities on Castaway Cay is the Castaway Cay 5K. This is run on most cruises that have a scheduled stop at Disney's Private Island paradise. You will need to sign up at the Guest Services desk to participate at least the day prior to your day at CC.

On the morning that you dock at Castaway Cay, all of the runners (and walkers) will meet in one of the lounges around 8am. This will be listed on the Daily Navigator as well as on the tickets that you receive for the CC5K. They will go over the route with everyone, and then disembark the ship as a group. Then, the group will walk to the start, which is near the Pelican Plunge tram stop. Families who have children to check into Scuttles Cove will have the opportunity to stop and do this on the way.

The 5K is not officially timed, it is a fun run. Many participants walk the entire route. It is a lovely way to start your day at Castaway Cay. There are plenty of water stations along the route as well. When you finish the race, you might even receive an official runDisney medal! Our family always brings our swimsuits in a beach bag with us and we simply change in the restroom near the finishing line. Jumping into the cool ocean water always feels great after the CC5K!

I hope you have a wonderful cruise and visit to my favorite place on Earth, Castaway Cay!

    Happy Cruising, Tracy V.
