I see on Castaway Cay there are a couple of water slides. I know my kids will need to wear a life vest based on their height but can you tell me what the depth of the water is where you exit the slide?

    Ahoy Michelle!

Welcome aboard the Disney Parks Moms Panel.  It sounds like you are planning a visit to my favorite Bahamian port, Castaway Cay.  Not only is Disney's private island truly a tropical oasis, getting there is the best time EVER since it means you are on a Disney cruise!  I hope you enjoy every memory you make here!

My kids LOVE the water slides found at Pelican Plunge in the waters surrounding Castaway Cay.  I have learned to love them as well since the water here can be deep, so my husband and I join our kids to help them experience these slides.  As the depth can vary throughout the day, I usually go down the slide first and then wait at the bottom to help my pirates swim away after they plunge into the water.  Sometimes I cannot even touch the bottom!

To get to Pelican Plunge, you or someone in your party should be a good swimmer as you do need to swim out to the platform.  All guests need to be at least 38 inches tall to use the water slides and those between 38 and 48 inches tall must wear a life vest.  The good news is there are plenty of complimentary life vests located right at the beaches on Castaway Cay for your use!

When you are done splashing in the sea, don't miss all of the great offerings in the sand!  My family loves to rent bicycles to ride around the island and see the natural beauty along the trails.  They have bikes available for all sizes and abilities!

Enjoy your day on Castaway Cay, Michelle!  Slide back over to the Disney Parks Moms Panel if you have any additional questions before you set sail!
