Jambo, Joe.
I’m so glad you followed the Lost Boys through Neverland and found your way to planDisney today! I hope this means you plan on visiting
The Most Magical Place on Earth sometime soon.
We don’t talk about rain storms, no, no, no … The weather in Central Florida is notoriously fickle, it’s true. But, while stormy weather frequently pops up on the radar, it doesn’t have to rain on your parade. Most
attractions and shows remain operational when it rains, so pack a poncho and umbrella just in case and continue enjoying the magic in spite of not-so-magical weather. My husband and I have come to love rainy days at Walt Disney World Resort, because the crowds typically thin out and there are lower wait times for attractions. We’ve even caught the Rainy Day Cavalcade, a parade of sorts that only happens when it rains, at
Magic Kingdom Park before. It was such a fun surprise!
Now, Joe, Walt Disney World Resort takes Guest safety very seriously, so there is a slight chance that certain outdoor attractions, like
Slinky Dog Dash and
Test Track, may close temporarily depending on the severity of the storm in the area. This typically happens when lightning is present, but the closures don’t last that long in my experience. If one of your must-do attractions is temporarily closed due to weather, I suggest you plant yourself close to that area and keep an eye on the queue to be one of the first Guests in line when it reopens.
When the rain, rain, rain comes down, down, down, you can also explore the indoor shows and attractions while you wait for the sun to come back out.
Muppet*Vision 3D,
The American Adventure,
Mickey’s PhilharMagic, and
Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress are my go-to attractions when it’s raining.
I hope this information helps, Joe. Don’t forget to follow the second star to the right straight on to
planDisney again the next time you have a question pop up. Have a magical day!
Until next time,
Alyssa
