Welcome to planDisney, Tricia! We are glad you brought your question to us today. I think we are all trying to balance putting
a little magic back in our lives while trying to make the best decisions we can to keep ourselves and our families safe and healthy.
The Walt Disney Company does not release attendance figures. In an effort to foster physical distancing, theme park capacity is being limited at this time and attendance is being managed with the
Disney Park Pass reservation system. All Guests will need a Disney Park Pass reservation as well as
valid admission in order to enter a theme park.
Reservations are subject to availability and may not be available for all theme parks on all dates. While we know that fewer Guests are permitted to enter the theme parks during the
phased reopening period of Walt Disney World Resort, no specific capacity numbers have been given.
In the past, holiday periods such as the week of Thanksgiving have been popular times to visit as many families take advantage of days off from school and work. It is hard to say exactly what Thanksgiving week might look like this year, although with
enhanced health and safety measures there will be fewer Guests in the parks over the holiday than in years past. There have been days when some or all parks have been "sold out" of Disney Park Pass reservations. I would expect this to be the case with dates around the Thanksgiving holiday as well. Whether this reduced capacity feels "crowded" to you will be a matter of perspective.
Predicting what our ever-changing world situation might look like a few months from now is difficult. I am confident that Walt Disney World Resort will continue to make operational decisions that keep the health and safety of Guests and Cast Members first and foremost.
Sending you good thoughts as you make the decision you feel is right for your family. Please don't hesitate to stop by planDisney again with any additional questions you may have. We are always happy to help.
