Welcome Home, Roy!
I know many of Mickey’s friends from international locations are anxious for travel to the United States to begin again. As a
Disney Vacation Club Member, I understand not wanting to lose any Vacation Points. Last year was the first time in my 12 years as a Member that I forfeited a few. It wasn’t very many, but it broke my streak of never losing a point.
It sounds like you know that by the Disney Vacation Club policy,
Vacation Points can only be banked for one year, at which point they must be used or expire. Obviously, you’d probably love to use them but due to the pandemic that isn’t an option. I would honestly start by calling Member Services. I know this is currently a challenging endeavor as hold times have been significant. If you aren’t already aware, there is a toll-free number for Members from the UK. If you scroll down to the middle of the
"Help & Contact" page you should find the listing for international numbers. If you make your call right when Member Services opens, which is 9 AM Eastern Daylight Time, you may have an easier time getting through than later in the day. While Member Services may not be able to offer any additional options for you, I am always of the idea that with something like this, you don’t know what they might say if you don’t ask, and I would be prepared with a backup plan.
Your first good option for expiring points would be to have Member Services
deposit them into the RCI system. Once they are deposited in RCI, you can use those points for up to 2 additional years, to book hundreds of destinations around the world, including Great Britain. Depending on local travel restrictions perhaps you could use them for a getaway closer to home. Another option would be to book a Disney Vacation Club stay for someone in the United States, perhaps a friend or acquaintance?
I know neither of those options is ideal, Roy, but it hopefully better than seeing your points expire. Sending you pixie dust for a solution, and that we’ll be seeing you real soon.
