    I can't decide where to stay in May 2014. We've never stayed on property before, but this time we want the whole magical Disney experience. My logical side says be less spendy; my fun side says Wilderness Lodge. Any helpful thoughts? Thanks!

    Marnie,

    There are a few ways to go here. All of them include enjoying the Walt Disney World experience. What I like to do is pick a resort at every expense classification, and then select the one that best matches my budget.

    Without knowing more about the makeup of your group, I would suggest the following;

    Deluxe (higher priced): Polynesian
    Deluxe (lower priced): Wilderness Lodge
    Moderate: Port Orleans - Riverside
    Value: Art of Animation

    I think the Polynesian, along with the Wilderness Lodge, are the two most heavily themed resorts. I love how they make you feel like you are literally in another world. I really feel like I am in Hawaii or Yellowstone Park. The fact that they are boat or monorail rides away from the Magic Kingdom is an amazing perk to it all. In both cases I think you go with the one that best matches your budget, and your desired theme concept.

    But you don't have to go broke to have fun. If these are just too hard on your budget, and believe me they can be, then maybe Port Orleans - Riverside is the solution. I think it is wonderfully themed, has a lot of amenities, and even though you move down to bus rides to the parks, you still can take a boat to Downtown Disney. Art of Animation is also wonderfully themed too, even if you stay in the standard rooms.

    If you can afford it, bump up as high as you can. I find that it is almost always worth the extra money, but only if it doesn't hurt too much in the wallet.

    Have a magical vacation!
