Hi there, Randalee. Welcome to planDisney!
Currently, you are allowed to bring your camera to the theme parks at the
Walt Disney World Resort. Just note that you cannot use an extension pole or selfie stick with it as those are not allowed. There will also be attractions and experiences where you will not be able to film so be sure to look at the signage outside of each experience. And it's just as important to listen to Cast Member instructions as they always have your safety, and the safety of other Guests, at the forefront of their minds! Be sure to check out the
Walt Disney World Resort Property Rules for the most up-to-date information on what cannot be brought into the theme parks.
As a recommendation, when you are going through security, I would take out your camera and hold it in front of you when going through the scanner. Sometimes items like these (which can also include sunglass cases, portable phone chargers, and umbrellas) set off the alarm. But if the Security Cast Members can readily see what actually set it off, they might not have to search your bag. It just might help to speed up the security process for you!
If you want to ensure that you get yourself in some of the pictures, be sure to look into
PhotoPass and
Memory Maker so that Cast Members can take some pictures for you. I totally understand you wanting to bring your own camera and get the exact shots you want, but sometimes, it's nice to be able to let someone else take over so that you can get some unique shots and some shots with you in them!
Randalee, best wishes for a great trip and some beautiful photos to look back on and cherish forever. If you have any other questions, you're more than welcome to
send them my way!
Today's special moments are tomorrow's memories,
Matt
