Are canes permitted in the parks

Welcome to planDisney, Beth Ann! I'm so glad you stopped by on your way to Walt Disney World Resort. I'm heading that way soon, so I hope we both have magical experiences. Let's look at what's allowed to help you and your party easily maneuver the parks.

Walking canes are not prohibited, so guests can use them throughout the property. However, security personnel might ask for a closer look since safety is of the utmost concern. You should be fine if your cane is a standard style, but security might scan it. Check out the list of prohibited items to be sure your item meets the criteria.

You can take your cane with you onto many attractions or leave it with a Cast Member to pick up after riding. Most mobility aids are welcome and encouraged. Cane chairs are even suggested in the Accessing Attraction Queues information. You can also rent an Electronic Conveyance Vehicle (ECV) or wheelchair at any theme park entrance!

Another tip is to consider purchasing Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass. These products will shorten wait times so you're standing less. My family buys Lightning Lanes for our days at Magic Kingdom Park since there are so many attractions you can use them for. Be sure to ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad since it will close in January for an extensive refurbishment. It's the wildest ride in the wilderness...especially if you ride in the back row!

Beth Ann, I hope your visit is practically perfect! Please stop by planDisney anytime. And look for me in the park; I'll be the one refilling my popcorn bucket over and over!

    Magic awaits,
    Elaine
