We had to cancel an upcoming stay and 50+ points went into holding. The points were borrowed from use year 2024 for a stay 12/7-9. When must we use the points. I am getting conflicting information on the DVC site. Our use year is August.

Welcome to planDisney, Deborah, and Welcome Home!

While I am so sorry that you had to cancel an upcoming reservation, I understand that life does happen and I am glad for the flexibility of Disney Vacation Club Membership. I really hope you are able to schedule another Walt Disney World Resort adventure soon. Let's chat about Use Years and holding accounts

If you borrowed Vacation Points from 2024 then they would become 2023 Use Year Points. Which means if you have an August Use Year, those Points would be available from August 1, 2023 to July 31, 2024. However, since your Points are in a holding account there are some additional restrictions. These Vacation Points are still good until the end of your Use Year, but they can only be used for reservations within 60 days of your check-in. Additionally, these Points cannot be banked. So you should be able to use these Points through July of next year, but you would have to wait within 60 days of your desired travel date to book. Since I cannot see the exact specifics of your Points, though, I would suggest giving DVC Member Services a call to discuss your options. I hope this helps you make a decision for a future DVC visit.

Thank you for visiting planDisney. Enjoy making magical memories!
