Hi Hailey, and thanks for visiting us at planDisney! I’m sorry to hear that you’re no longer able to go on your trip, but I’d be happy to walk you through the steps to cancel.
If you have a reservation booked directly through Disney World, you should be able to cancel through the
My Plans page on the website. Scroll down until you see the reservation and click the Change Reservation button. On the next page, there will be a Cancel Reservation button towards the bottom. If it’s missing or greyed out, you’ll need to call the
Tickets and Hotel Reservations phone number, and a Cast Member can assist.
Keep in mind that the
cancellation policies are different depending on whether you booked a vacation package (typically a Disney resort hotel room reservation and theme park tickets booked together) or a room-only reservation. For vacation packages, you can receive a full refund (minus any third-party charges) if you cancel at least 30 days before your check-in date. If you cancel between 2 and 29 days, you’ll receive a refund of the deposit, and if you cancel 1 day or less (or no show), you won’t be eligible for a refund. For room-only reservations, you can receive a refund if you cancel at least 8 days before your check-in date. If you booked through a third-party company, the cancellation process and policy will be different, so you’ll need to contact them directly.
For theme park tickets purchased separately from your Disney resort hotel reservation, those are nonrefundable. However, for most ticket types, you can change the date when you’re ready to reschedule. To do this, go back to the My Plans page, look for the “My Plans, Reservations, and Tickets” section, and select “Tickets, Passes & Memory Maker”. Find your theme park tickets and select “Change Tickets” to change the date. It’ll prompt you to pay the difference in cost if the new date is more expensive.
While it’s a bummer to have to cancel your trip, there are so many exciting new things coming to Disney World in the coming months and years! I’m most excited to see
The Magic of Disney Animation open in Hollywood Studios later this year, a new
Tropical Americas-themed area coming to Animal Kingdom Theme Park in 2027, and for
Cars to come to life at Magic Kingdom through Piston Peak National Park. No exact opening dates have been announced, but keep an eye on
Disney Parks Blog for all the latest developments!
When you’re ready to plan your next trip, don’t hesitate to visit us again at planDisney. We’re always here to help!
