Hello there, Karen!
Welcome to planDisney, and excellent question!
Disney Gift cards are my favorite form of payment when visiting Walt Disney World Resort. I love to use them to pay for our food and souvenirs. I even get a different design for my little ones to better manage their spending. Plus, it helps them keep track of their remaining balance, so it helps them decide which souvenir to bring home. And for my daughter, that usually means a brand new plush.
My fellow panelist, Candace, is also Canadian.
She does an incredible job of explaining how Disney Gift Cards purchased from your local retailers will be in Canadian funds. Once purchased, the funds will be converted into American dollars using the exchange rate from the previous day.
She also mentioned that if you are looking to buy Disney Gift Cards in U.S. dollars, the best way to do it is by an e-Gift Card. You can do this directly from the
Disney Store website. A day or two after completing your e-gift card purchase, you will receive your e-gift card in your email. Once there, I recommend storing it in your phone’s digital wallet. This will allow you to present your phone’s digital wallet during checkout so that you can pay for your purchases once you arrive at
Walt Disney World.
Karen, I hope this helps answer your question so that you can purchase your gift cards! If you have any other questions, please be sure to let us know. In the meantime, happy planning!
See ya real soon,
Shantel
