We will be camping at the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds for a few days in June, but will not be going to the parks or buying the dining plan. Will we need to (or be allowed to) order Magic Bands? I got an email from Disney to that it was time to order.

Hi, Cynthia!  If you don't customize your Magic Bands, they will automatically be prepared for you, using the names of the guests on your reservation.  The bands will be just the traditional grey bands, and you will receive them in the mail prior to your departure date.

Even if you are not going into the theme parks or on the dining plan, the Magic Bands can be used for many other things.  If you have a car and plan to be driving in and out of the campground, you can use the Magic Band to access the entrance into the campgrounds without having to wait for the security guard.  The band will open the bar at the entrance.

You can also use your Magic Band to make purchases throughout the Walt Disney World resort area.  If you want to pick up a few groceries at Fort Wilderness or do some shopping or dining at Downtown Disney or one of the resort hotels, you can use your Magic Band to charge everything to the account you can set up at check in.

You may find you don't use your Magic Bands at all, especially if you intend to just hang out at the campgrounds for the entire length of your stay.  They will, however, still be shipped to you in advance of your trip.

Have a wonderful and relaxing vacation.
