Hey there, Michael, and welcome to planDisney!
Thanks for bringing your question to us and I see that you'll be arriving at the Disneyland Resort very soon. I'm a camera geek and my wife has accused me of having Gear Acquisition Syndrome, so I definitely understand wanting to bring along something to enhance your footage.
Disney has a list of Prohibited Items as part of their
Park Rules as well as a
FAQ detailing what is allowed through security. Please note that extending selfie sticks and monopods/tripods that extend beyond 6' or cannot fit into a standard sized backpack are not allowed. Camera gimbals are not on the list, so they are allowed into the Parks. Indeed, I have seen many Guests using handheld gimbals for either their phones or smaller cameras (just make sure it doesn't extend). I might think twice before trying to bring a large, professional looking rig, however. Ultimately, it'll be at the discretion of the security Cast Members what to allow through.
There's going to be plenty for you to record because you're catching the tail end of
Season of the Force as well as
Pixar Fest! If you need a break to recharge during the day, take a look at the
Pixar Fest Foodie Guide and enjoy a nice meal! If you want to get into the photos yourself, be sure to make use of the many
Disney PhotoPass photographers around the Parks because they'll be more than happy to grab a photo of your entire group.
Michael, I wish you a truly magical visit to the Happiest Place on Earth. I hope you get some epic footage that is buttery smooth and please come on back if you need anything else from us! We'll see ya real soon!
Wishing You a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow!
