Hi Mary! I really wanted to take my children to
Dine with an Animal Specialist at Sanaa during our Disney vacation a few weeks ago, but it was booked solid while I was there. Although the Disney website doesn't indicate a recommended age for this event, it does appear that the telephone representatives are telling guests it's recommended for guests 14 and up. Previously, the recommended age was 8 and up, and many people have taken younger children to Dine with an Animal Specialist. A children's menu is available at this event, during which guests dine on Sanaa's delicacies while talking with one of the animal specialists at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. After the meal, guests venture outside for an up-close view of a tortoise.
If you have animal-loving children who love to learn and won't be bored sitting and listening to the Animal Specialist talk for a while, then don't hesitate to bring them to this lunch. If they prefer more interactive experiences, they may find it less interesting, especially if the majority of the other guests are adults.
If you think your daughters would be bored by sitting and listening to the speaker, you might want to consider some of the free animal activities at the Lodge. Just ask the resort for the daily schedule of activities, which generally includes things like learning about and watching flamingo feeding and animal enrichment during which kids can help the animal experts prepare and present interactive objects to the animals.
