Welcome to planDisney, Rosanne! I know how meeting a favorite Disney friend can transform a visit into a once-in-a-lifetime memory, especially when the trip is wrapped around a birthday celebration. There’s something truly magical about seeing your child’s face light up when they meet a beloved character, and I’d be delighted to help guide you toward finding Elsa during your visit to the Disneyland Resort.
Elsa often greets Guests inside the Disney Animation Building at Disney California Adventure. These meet and greets aren’t scheduled far in advance, so you won’t find them published weeks ahead in the
Daily Events Schedule. Instead, they appear each morning in the
Disneyland App. This is one of the best tools you can use during your trip. It updates in real time, showing which characters are appearing, where they’ll be, and exactly when you can meet them. I checked today’s listings and Elsa is still welcoming Guests inside the Animation Building, which makes for a wonderfully immersive Frozen-themed encounter. When you arrive, check the App early in the day so you’ll have the best chance to plan your visit around her schedule.
Another magical way to see Elsa is during the
Paint the Night parade. Toward the end of the dazzling procession, you’ll spot Elsa, Anna, and Olaf on a shimmering float that glows with icy brilliance. The way the lights sparkle off the float feels like Elsa’s magic come to life! Paint the Night is currently scheduled for two performances on the day of your visit, at 8:30 PM and 10:30 PM. It’s my favorite nighttime parade, and I can’t recommend it highly enough for families who love a mix of music, magic, and a dash of pixie dust.
Since every parade deserves a great viewing spot, I have a Q-Tip for you! The area near the entrance to “it’s a small world” is one of my favorite places to watch. While Main Street fills up quickly, this location tends to feel a little calmer and offers an excellent view as the floats twinkle by. Arriving early here not only secures you a prime parade spot, but also puts you in the perfect position to enjoy the evening fireworks. After the last burst fades, stay right where you are to watch A Tapestry of Happiness, a new projection spectacular that transforms the “it’s a small world” façade into a vibrant moving storybook of Disneyland history. It’s a beautiful way to cap off a night filled with magic.
Rosanne, I hope this helps you and your daughter create a truly unforgettable memory with the Snow Queen herself. If you’d like even more planning tips, whether for character experiences, parade strategies, or where to find the best treats, we’d love to welcome you back to planDisney anytime.
Have a truly magical visit,
David
