Hi there, Alicia - welcome to planDisney!
Thanks for stopping by with your question for our team of panelists. We love to help Guests just like you plan your very own, very magical, Walt Disney World Resort vacations!
What a nice treat - I'm sure your son and his friend will love a gift of some Disney magic! There are a few different options, so let's see what's best for you.
Since these two live in Florida, they may be eligible to purchase Theme Park Tickets
at a special rate Mickey reserves only for those who live in his own backyard. There are requirements to verify Florida residency, and in my experience, it's been easier for the Florida Residents themselves to do that as part of a purchase. For that reason, and another I'll detail below, you might want to consider
gifting them a Disney Gift Card. You would estimate the cost of the Florida Resident tickets you'd like them to have, and then can purchase a Disney Gift Card in that amount. Disney Gift Cards have a maximum value of $1,000 so you may opt for more than one if you're gifting several days of tickets or a
Florida Resident Annual Pass. In fact, your son and his friend might actually prefer Annual Passes, and by giving a Disney Gift Card instead of actual tickets, they would be able to make that choice on their own.
Otherwise, you could purchase Theme Park Tickets using your own My Disney Experience Account, and then have your son and his friend connect with you as Family & Friends. From there, you could reassign the tickets to them. If you go this route with Florida Resident tickets, they will each need to verify their residency in person at a Theme Park Guest Relations location prior to using the tickets.
I hope this information gets you on the right track, Alicia! Speaking of tracks, have you seen the brand new thrill that just arrived at Magic Kingdom Park? Be sure to tell your son and his friend to check out
TRON Lightcycle / Run presented by Enterprise!
See ya real soon!
