Welcome to planDisney, Gunja! I'm so excited to hear that you plan to spend New Year's Eve at Walt Disney World Resort! The best endings always have pixie dust and fireworks.
I don't blame you one bit for wanting to celebrate the new year with the special 'Fantasy In the Sky' Fireworks. The pyrotechnics can be seen 360 degrees around the park and have been updated to include lasers and projections on Cinderella Castle. My favorite part is the Countdown to the New Year - hosted by Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy.
This year's shows are scheduled for December 30 and 31 at 6:30 PM and 11:50 PM each night in
Magic Kingdom Park.
The only way to see the fireworks from inside the park is to have a
theme park ticket and a
park reservation for Magic Kingdom. With valid admission, you are welcome to enter as early as 9:00 AM that day and enjoy all the park has to offer, including daytime entertainment and attractions. Currently, there is no availability on either December 30 or 31; however, guests often change their plans, and the
availability calendar updates many times a day. I recommend continuing to check often to see if there are any openings.
Alternatively, if you are willing to splurge,
California Grill at Disney's Contemporary Resort is hosting a party that night with fantastic food and a view of the fireworks. Also, the
Disney Parks Blog often live streams the event on their site. Last year, we watched it from the comfort of our living room couch!
I hope your New Year's celebration is a blast, Gunja!
