If I buy a sword in Epcot Japan, do I have to ship it or can I have it sent to my hotel?

Konnichiwa, Vickie! Welcome back to planDisney. I'm happy to help with another great question.

Isn't the Mitsukoshi Department Store in EPCOT fantastic? The wide selection of merchandise along with the Japanese spirit of omotanesh - service with sincerity - makes this the perfect place to browse for unique souvenirs.

If your shopping plans include bringing home a sword, there are a few things to consider. During the current phased reopening of the Walt Disney World Resort, package delivery to the front of the theme parks and Disney Resort Hotels is suspended; however, shipping merchandise home continues to be available. Simply speak with a Cast Member at Mitsukoshi to make this magic happen.

If you prefer to keep your treasure with you, be sure to pack your sword in your checked luggage for your return flight. I checked with the TSA website, and any item that may resemble a weapon, including fake swords, may not be placed in carry-on bags. You don't want to end up like this planDisney Guest whose sword was taken at the airport.

I hope this has been helpful, and that all your shopping dreams come true on your upcoming Walt Disney World vacation. Be sure to review the Know Before You Go updates prior to arrival, and have a magical stay!
