    Can you buy the meal plan if you are not staying at a Disney hotel? We are staying at one on Disney property but not the hotel. Friend said he bought his at the gate but I don't know if he was staying at a Disney resort.

    You must have misunderstood your friend. The Disney Dining Plan is a perk only available for guests staying at the WDW resort hotels. Additionally, even for Disney resort guests, the Dining Plan must be purchased at least 48 hours prior to your arrival at WDW.

    If you are staying off-site, you will still be able to make reservations for and dine at any WDW restaurant, you'll just need to pay with money (cash, credit card, etc.) rather than with Dining Plan credits. You can make your dining reservations by calling 407-WDW-DINE.
