Where do I buy a magic key pass with a gift card

    Hi Delia,

Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney. I'm excited to hear you're considering purchasing a Magic Key. I've loved my year as an Annual Passholder at Walt Disney World Resort so far, but I'd really love the chance to become a Magic Key holder at Disneyland Resort if I ever live close enough in the future. Let's walk through the details together.

First and foremost, I need to share some less-than-magical news. Unfortunately, all new Magic Key sales are paused at this time. Current Magic Key holders are able to renew their passes up to 30 days prior to their pass expiration, but the website stipulates that they can "renew into a pass made available within the program." It's yet to be seen whether there will be updates to the previously available Magic Key tier names and associated features when sales resume. I know that is not the information you hoped to hear, but I'd keep a close eye on Disney Parks Blog for updates and follow the Official Disneyland Magic Key Instagram account for additional information. These sources will be the first to share the details when pass sales resume.

Now as far as your specific question, guests were previously able to apply a Disney Gift Card as a form of payment for new Magic Key purchases online before sales were paused. If the process resumes without any change, you should hopefully still be able to purchase a new Magic Key using one Disney Gift Card online. If you have more than one gift card I recommend consolidating them on disneygiftcard.com, where you can combine the balances of multiple smaller cards up to $1,000. If your gift cards exceed $1,000 in value, you may be able to use them with a Cast Member in person when sales resume. To my knowledge, gift cards were not eligible for Magic Key renewals online, but were said to be an eligible form of payment for in-person renewals. Just something to keep in mind when the time comes.

I'm sorry I didn't have more magical news for you today Delia, but I hope this helps you make a game plan for your future purchase. If we can answer any other questions in the meantime, please stop by and let us know.

    Magic and memories,
    Amy
