If I buy a magic key pass but don’t activate it until May, do I renew from the date of purchase or the date of activation?

    Hiya, Marieliza!

Welcome to planDisney! I hope that luck was with you and that you were able to obtain a Magic Key Pass during the sales window. The demand for Magic Key Passes is extraordinary and I know so many people who were excited for the opportunity to purchase a new Magic Key. It took some dedication and luck to get through the online queue.

As you know, a new Magic Key is not activated until the first time you use it to enter a Disneyland Resort Theme Park or using the parking benefit for a fully-paid first entry into a lot at the Disneyland Resort (per the Magic Key Terms and Conditions). If not activated within one year of purchase, the Magic Key will expire. Once activated, the Magic Key will expire one year after the date of activation. In response to your question, your renewal window will begin 30 days before that renewal date, not the date of purchase.

I've had my Magic Key ever since the program's inception and I've absolutely loved the benefits and discounts that come with it. Whether or not you were able to obtain your very own Magic Key, I'd recommend following the Magic Key Instagram page for the latest announcements because I often hear about new sales and special offers there first.

Marieliza, I hope that you found this useful information. The Disneyland Resort is such a magical place for so many people and I hope that you get the opportunity to visit soon. Please drop by again if you need anything else from us!

Wishing You a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow!

Meet the Panelist: Al, California

Ahoy there from the heart of Steinbeck Country in central California! I've been visiting the Disneyland Resort since childhood and fell in love with the sense of absolute immersion that the Imagineers have achieved. My favorite attraction is Pirates of the Caribbean because where else can you go from a California day to an evening boat ride in the bayou with "salty old pirates"? I'm a veterinarian and an all-around Disney geek and enthusiast. I'd love to help you plan your next Disneyland trip! Learn More About Al
