Hello there, Alexa!
Getting ready to buy a Magic Key is so exciting! I'm so glad that passes will be on sale again this week.
Checking out the
Magic Key Buying Guide I see there is a whole section for pass upgrades. The current policy is that a Magic Key may be upgraded to an available higher pass type when a guest visits the Disneyland Resort ticket booths and pays the difference between the two pass types. The cost to upgrade is not prorated and your expiration date doesn't change, so it's really best to decide what pass type works for you before you purchase.
To help you pick which Magic Key is the right option I recommend checking the
Magic Key Calendar to see which days are blocked out for each pass. For example, I have an Enchant Key. I live out of state and have to plan my trips in advance, so it's pretty easy for me to plan trips that don't bump into days where I can't use my pass.
As a California resident, you might live close enough to the parks that you want the option to visit more often, so you'd choose a pass with fewer blocked days. Or if you live in zip codes 90000 to 93599 you can choose the
Imagine Key which is the least expensive but has more blocked days. It just depends on when you want to be in the parks!
We don't know how long passes will be available, so I'd recommend joining the waiting room around 8:45 AM on November 6 by visiting the
Magic Key page and clicking the link to purchase Magic Key passes. Be patient, because even magic takes a little time!
I hope you'll be able to find a pass that fits you just like a glass slipper, Alexa!
Keep moving forward!
Amanda
