If I buy five day base tickets for our five day Disney stay and because of illness, weather, etc. we fail to get to the park one of the days, can we use two admissions on one day to visit two parks on one day?

    Marilyn,

Unfortunately you can't use a base ticket admission on the same day for two different parks.  To do that you would have to add on the Park Hopper option, and then you would only use one admission but you would be able to visit two parks.  Since adding days beyond the first three days is relatively cheap, I think Disney needed to put in some "safe guards" in their tickets to avoid "creative Park Hopping."  If it were possible to use two admissions on the same day, in many cases it wouldn't make much sense to buy a Park Hopper ticket.

Hope that makes sense, even if it wasn't the answer you wanted to hear.  Please don't shoot the messenger! ;-)

Let's just hope the weather is great (it usually is), and everyone stays healthy!
