Hi there, Karen. Welcome to planDisney! Thanks for taking the time to drop by with your question for us.
It is very generous of you to gift a Disneyland Resort
theme park ticket to your granddaughter. If you are purchasing a
One Day ticket, you will be asked to select a date that corresponds to a specific tier. Tier 0 is the lowest priced One-Day ticket with the most blockout dates, while Tier 6 is the highest priced with no blockout dates.
If you are unsure which day your granddaughter is able to head to the Disneyland Resort, there are several ways you can still gift a ticket. The easiest option, in my opinion, is to give your granddaughter a
Disney Gift Card so she can purchase a ticket once she finalizes her travel dates. This provides the most flexibility and very convenient for you both.
Another option is for you to pick a random date when purchasing a One-Day ticket. If you choose a date that requires a Tier 6 ticket, your granddaughter can make changes to the theme park reservation easily since this particular tier has no blockout dates. If you purchase a One Day ticket with a lower tier, and she then decides to go on a date that requires a higher tier ticket, she can upgrade her ticket in-person at a Main Entrance ticket booth. This can be a bit of a hassle and if she plans to visit during peak season,
theme park reservation availability may be limited. My last suggestion is to purchase a Multi-Day ticket for more fun-filled days at the parks. The tier system does not apply to a Multi-Day ticket.
I hope this information is helpful for you, Karen. As always, if you have more trip-planning questions, please don’t hesitate to visit us on
planDisney again.
Have a magical day,
Kiki
