Can I buy Disney Dollars with my Disney rewards card at the Disneyland hotel?

Hello, Rhonda, and welcome to planDisney! As I peer around my stacks and stacks of money, I see you with this great question. Actually, I'm channeling my inner Scrooge McDuck because I don't have piles of cash! You'll be at Disneyland Resort this summer, and I hope your visit is a treasure-trove of experiences and memories. Check out the newly reopened Mickey's Toontown at Disneyland Park. It's undergone a magical reimagining, and the diamond in its crown is the new family-friendly attraction Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway. But it sounds like you have some money burning a hole in your pocket, so let's see what we can discover for you.

Disney Dollars have a rich history at Disneyland Resort. These highly sought-after bills could be used like cash at the theme parks on both coasts and on Disney Cruise Line. Unfortunately, the printing of new Disney Dollars ended several years ago, so they are unavailable for purchase on Disney property. This colorful and collectible cash is still accepted at face value at some Disneyland Resort locations, but the bills are actually worth more to collectors on the resale market.

Nowadays, Disney Gift Cards are used in place of Disney Dollars. These gift cards are available to purchase at select locations throughout Disneyland Resort. It sounds like you have Disney Reward Dollars available to you through your Disney Visa Card, and I'm happy to say you should be able to use these reward dollars to purchase Disney Gift Cards if you'd like. You can use Disney Gift Cards throughout the theme parks, Downtown Disney, and even online at shopDisney. They make lovely gifts and are a great way to keep track of spending. I know a miserly duck who would be proud!

I have one last suggestion before I go back to counting my coins. If you bring your Disney Visa Card, you can check out the exclusive PhotoPass opportunities for cardholders. I recently had some intergalactic Magic Shots taken at Star Wars Launch Bay at Disneyland Park. There's another Disney Visa Cardmember Photo Opportunity at Disney California Adventure near Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue. You'll show your Disney Visa Card to access these unique photos; digital downloads are complimentary. Uncle Scrooge would undoubtedly approve of that bargain!

Rhonda, I know you'll have a fabulous time on your upcoming visit. You can bank on it! So please stop by planDisney anytime because you can always count on us!

    Magic awaits,
    Elaine
