Hi, Sheena!
Welcome to planDisney. It looks like you’re gearing up for a magical visit to the Disneyland Resort later this week. Summer is such a fun time to explore the parks with late hours, special offerings, and plenty of warm sunshine! I do recommend bringing a neck fan, as it makes those outdoor queues feel much more comfortable.
I checked with a Cast Member to confirm the details you’re asking about. While parking fees can’t be applied toward a
Magic Key purchase, the cost of your theme park ticket and
Lightning Lane Multi Pass can typically be applied at this time, as long as the Lightning Lane Multi Pass was purchased at the same time as the ticket (subject to change). If you buy Lightning Lane Multi Pass later while already inside the parks, it can’t be used toward a Magic Key upgrade.
You’ll also need to be using either a wholly unused ticket or an active, eligible ticket to apply its value toward a
Magic Key. Fully used tickets can’t be upgraded, so be sure to complete the upgrade on your last day in the parks. I recommend doing it toward the end of that day's operating hours, because switching to a Magic Key can affect your Lightning Lane selections and park reservations. Since those reservations are tied to your original ticket, you may lose them and be unable to book new ones unless you repurchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass. Also, keep in mind that your Magic Key will be backdated to begin on the first day you used your ticket.
If you’re a California resident, payment plans are available for select Magic Key passes. Your ticket value can usually be used as the deposit, and the remaining balance is divided into 12 equal monthly payments.
After purchasing your Magic Key, make sure to check out all of the
perks and benefits associated with it! The food and merchandise discounts are very helpful, and there are often seasonal offerings, like the fun
Disneyland Park Map Activity for Magic Key Holders that started being offered on June 26, 2026.
Sheena, welcome to the Magic Key family! It’s a wonderful community to be part of, and I hope your upcoming visit is filled with magic from rope drop to fireworks.
Magic Happens!
Jen
