How much busier is it during the Pop Warner football week?

Hi John! Thanks for visiting us here on the Moms Panel.

Pop Warner football week at Walt Disney World  traditionally is held during the first full week of December. The dates for 2013 are December 7th-14th. The good news is that Pop Warner really doesn't affect the overall crowd levels in the theme parks. However, Pop Warner DOES affect the availability of rooms at the All-Star Resorts, Pop Century and several of the Moderate Resorts. You'll want to keep this in mind as you choose which resort you'd like to stay at during your trip.

The bottom line: Pop Warner needn't be a factor in your vacation planning unless you decide you want to stay at a Value Resort (with the exception of Art of Animation) or either Coronado Springs or Caribbean Beach Moderate Resorts. These resorts may be at capacity during Pop Warner week which will significantly increase the crowds at the food courts and pools as well as on the buses.

I'd just like to mention that the period between Thanksgiving and mid-December is one of the best times to visit Walt Disney World - crowds are generally quite low and the weather is still mild (no hurricanes and low humidity!). My family often travels to Disney World during this time of year and I highly recommend it! A nice benefit is that the theme parks and resorts will be in full holiday mode with lots of beautiful decorations on display. You can also experience one of the best loved traditions at Disney World - Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party - complete with snow on Main Street U.S.A.!

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
