I have a broken heel and hurt hip that just isn't healing quick enough for my 2/16-2/22 visit to Disney World so it looks like I may need a wheel chair. Do I need a doctor's note to rent one? And how do I go about renting one?

First Carol, I'm so sorry about your injuries!  ouch!  I hope you are feeling better soon, I know how painful that can be.

You will not need a doctor's note to rent a wheelchair.  However, you may need to arrive in the park early to secure one, particularly if you are wanting and ECV (power chair) as opposed to one that someone else will push.  Both kinds are available at the parks, but there are a limited number.  Fewer ECVs and higher demand for them mean that they are often unavailable.

We have traveled with several family members who needed to rent a chair, and we found it easier and more economical to rent one in advance from an independent company.  I just did an internet search (orlando wheelchair rental) and found one that would deliver and pickup from the resort.  It was so easy!  That also allowed us to have use of the chair on the buses and in the resort, as opposed to in the parks only.  We have used Walker Mobility and Discount Mobility USA both with great success.

I hope you find a solution that allows you to relax and enjoy your vacation.  :)
