    Hi! Being broke college kids, my boyfriend and I are trying to cut some corners on our 5 day trip. If we order kids meals at counter service places are they comparable in size to other meals? We want to be cheap but full! Thanks for any help!

    Hi, Britney!  I know all about broke college kids, as I have one of my own who always seems to be calling for money to spend at Walt Disney World.  I think she's been awesome at imparting some fabulous money saving tips that I might not have thought of originally!

    The smoked turkey legs are famous all over Walt Disney World, and they are HUGE.  The turkey legs run about $7.50 each, but can easily make a decent meal for two people, especially if you add a bag of chips and a drink.  

    At the Yakitori House in the Japan pavilion at EPCOT,  you'll find an awesome kids meal of teriyaki chicken with rice and vegetables - a nice meal for any adult.  It will run you just shy of $7.00, but also for $7, you can get a nice sized portion of miso soup and a salad.  My husband and I have gotten a kids meal and the soup and salad and shared it as one good meal.

    For less than $10 at Cosmic Ray's in the Magic Kingdom, you can get a 1/2 rotisserie chicken with a very filling side of mashed potatoes.  This is plenty for two people to share, and at $5 per meal, the same price as the peanut butter sandwich on the kids' menu.  Flame Tree Barbecue has a similar offering - a smoked half chicken with beans and a corn muffin that is a nice meal, and probably more substantial than the kids' drumstick meal.

    Don't just look at the kids' meals - you might find you can get and share an adult meal that gives you a better meal for the same amount of money.
