We are bringing our 4 year old little boy to WDW for the first time. We are staying for one week and are wondering if Downtown Disney is worth time away from parks. We could fit it in either on our arrival day or evening when we are at AK in the morning.

    Hi Lori,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I would definitely suggest visiting the Downtown Disney area while you are at the Walt Disney World Resort. With a multitude of shopping, dining, and entertainment options, you can spend a full morning or afternoon exploring it all.

Our family always visits Downtown Disney on our first day at Walt Disney World. My kids love visiting World of Disney – the world's largest Disney character store – to find a souvenir, and admire all of the amazing decorations. The spitting Stitch out front is a favorite of my boys. They enjoy watching the occasional unexpected passerby get hit by the mischievous Experiment 626.

If you are around Downtown Disney for dinner, I would suggest dining at one of the many wonderful restaurants there. Some of the places my family enjoys are Rainforest Cafe at Downtown Disney Marketplace and T-REX. Both are wonderfully themed and offer a variety of food options for kids and adults. The DJ Kids Dance Party at Waterside Stage is a fun way to burn off extra energy before or after dinner.

    Have a magical day!
