Hello! I am bringing my whole family to Disney World in March. I have a 5 year old Autistic Nephew and am trying to discern if DAS is something we should look into. Can you tell me about that service?

    Hi Christina Nicole,

There is nothing better than experiencing the magic of Disney World with the whole family! You are going to have memories to last a lifetime. We have taken a few trips with grandparents, cousins, and as much of the crew as possible, and we will never forget watching our kids dance to the parade music with their grandparents and cousins.

Disney World has done a great job of making sure they cater to guests of all abilities. I recommend reviewing the new comprehensive website and the Accessibility Planning Guide to see which services best suit your needs. Disability Access Service (DAS) is available only to guests who, because of disability, are not able to wait in line for an extended time. This includes those with developmental disabilities like autism or similar. To determine if you are eligible, you will need to have a live video chat with a cast member before your visit. To begin the chat process, visit the registration page up to 30 days before your visit, log in to your MyDisney account, and click "Request Live Video Chat." Make sure that the person who manages your nephew's account is the one who logs into their MyDisney account and initiates the request for DAS. During the live video chat, they will determine eligibility and take a photo of the person to whom DAS is registered. If you are registering for someone else, ensure they are present when you start the chat process to avoid any issues.

It sounds like you will have a large group, so keep in mind that DAS can only be used for up to 4 people at a time. This will include the DAS-registered guest, who must be present and check in at each ride before the rest of the party will be let through. All of your DAS return times will be reserved in the My Disney Experience app. The process of reserving return times is super easy, and they will walk you through it on your live video chat if you are new to using the service. You will be able to reserve one DAS return time at a time and will need to wait 10 minutes after you use your return before securing another one.

This service can be combined with Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass to ensure that your family gets to ride together. What we do on larger trips is request DAS times that will line up with the Lightning Lanes we have already purchased for the rest of our family. This allows us to all enter the Lightning Lane together and ride as a whole crew!

    Happy Planning,
    Jenna
