I am bringing my 2 sons ages 3 and 1 to WDW in May. My 3 year old is so excited and I want to take him to Chef Mickey or the Hoopdeedoo Musical Review but I'm not sure which one would be better for his age. Or is there somewhere else that would be better?

Hello to Erin in IN from Erin in NY! (That was fun to write.)

With a preschooler and a toddler, I think you'd be much better off at Chef Mickey's than at the Hoop Dee Doo Revue. The HDDR is a show that's almost two hours long. While there is some activity and audience participation, about 45 minutes of the show does involve sitting still and watching. Try to picture your one-year-old at the movies. Would he last 45 minutes there without squirming or making noise?

Chef Mickey's is a great choice for your family. It's a character meal where some real celebrities actually come to your table: Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Pluto. Seeing these characters up close will seem to your sons like they are dining with their favorite movies stars. If we were studying for the SATs, the analogy would be ...
George Clooney : Me :: Mickey : 3-year-old boy. (And maybe you can imagine how happy I'd be to be dining with George Clooney ;-)

Most character meals last about an hour, so there's less time that your toddler needs to be settled. Plus, it's a buffet, so if you need to get up and move around a bit, it won't seem out of the ordinary. Another benefit to Chef Mickey's is the buffet itself. The HDDR is a fixed menu meal. When my kids were toddlers, they often had food "phases" where they would only eat very specific things. With a buffet, you have a better shot at being able to satisfy their food preference of the week.

The Hoop Dee Doo is a great show, I bring my girls every year, but I think you would all enjoy it more if you waited until your youngest is about four.
