Hello there, Jacque. Welcome to
planDisney. I can sense that the force is strong with your family, and it is enheartening to see you honoring the memory of your lost family members.
The Disneyland Resort is a magical place, and while that tends to be a happy or joyful experience, that magic can also provide the comfort and solace needed when life gets difficult. Let’s find some ways she can feel the Force around her; here, between you, me, the tree, the rock, everywhere, yes.
Padawans can go to
Savi’s Workshop to craft their own lightsaber for an extra cost. Your niece can experience this, with a Jedi Master to accompany her, by making a reservation at the
Disneyland website or on the
Disneyland Mobile App. Building a lightsaber in her father’s memory would definitely bring balance to the Force. If you know the color of her father’s lightsaber, she could choose the appropriate kyber crystal to produce the same color blade. There are plenty of afternoon and evening appointments left, but be sure to reserve one right away.
Once her saber is complete, find her favorite character to capture the memory. Go to the Disneyland Mobile App and click on the location icon at the bottom of the screen. Press the character button in the top ribbon, then the “Show List” button at the bottom of the map. You’ll see the location and time of all the characters’ appearances for the day. Rey, Ahsoka Tano, Han Solo, and even Darth Vader will be waiting for you.
Occasionally, a
Disney PhotoPass Photographer will be close to the Millennium Falcon. You may be able to ask them to get a picture with one of the characters. Also, “I’m Celebrating” buttons are a special tradition at Disney Parks. You can ask a cast member at a cash register for a button, and they will write in what you’re celebrating. Maybe your niece would like a button that has “the memory of my parents” written on it to hold up while taking a PhotoPass picture with her new lightsaber and her favorite character. Cast members sometimes run low on buttons at cash registers, so be sure to stop at one of the
Guest Relations locations in the park before you head to
Galaxy's Edge.
Jacque, I admire the dedication and care you're showing for your niece. It is so important to stay positive in situations like these, because, in the words of Master Yoda, “Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny.” I’m hopeful that she’ll feel the force flow around her while she experiences the Most Magical Place on Earth.
I truly hope you all have the most magical trip ever. If you ever need more tips or have other questions, visit us at

May the Force Be With You,
Corey
