I will be bringing my family to WDW August 10-17 what is the weather and crowds like then? Anything special happening at the parks at this time?

Hi, Kelly! Thanks for submitting your question to me here on the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Well, as I'm sure you may already have guessed, it gets pretty darn hot during the summer season in Orlando! According to Weather.com, the average high and low temperatures for August are 92 degrees and 73 degrees. Due to the heat and humidity, it's important to avoid becoming dehydrated. I recommend carrying bottled water and wearing a hat when in the theme parks. When my family visits Walt Disney World, we always bring refillable CamelBak water bottles with us and replenish them at the water fountains and/or at the quick service dining locations throughout the parks. The good news is that there are lots of indoor attractions (with air conditioning) where you can cool off.

During your trip in August, you may be pleasantly surprised by some unexpected "Limited Time Magic" happenings around the Disney theme parks. Of course, there are always shows and tours to experience that can make your visit even more magical. If you'd like to know more about these, just stop by again to ask me another question.

As far as crowds go, mid-June through to Labor Day is considered one of the periods of highest attendance at Walt Disney World. It's a good idea to plan ahead in order to tour efficiently during crowded times. You can familiarize yourself with the four theme park layouts and their offerings ahead of time by ordering free customized Disney theme park maps on the Walt Disney World website. If you'd like some advice on how to tour the theme parks during the busy summer season, please write me back. I would be happy to share more specific tips and strategies!
