On 9/30/09-10/7/09, I am bringing my family to Disney World for my 9/9/09 65th birthday present to me. Is there anything I can do to make this an extra special occasion for my family?

Happy birthday, Susan!  To start with, wear your birthday button!  The buttons can generate quite a few birthday wishes!.

The Wishes Dessert Party at the Magic Kingdom runs through October, so you might want to contact 407-WDW-DINE to see about booking this special event.  You are treated to an incredible buffet of desserts, and you have a reserved viewing area to enjoy the Wishes Fireworks display.

If you already have dining reservations, make sure to notify the cast members that you are celebrating your birthday when you check in at the podium for your meal.  There is sometimes a little extra pixie dust that comes along with a birthday celebration at some of the restaurants.

Another thing you might be able to do is the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage.  My family and I just did this for my daughter's 18th birthday, and while she had to bail on us at the last minute due to sorority rush at her new school, we had a blast!  To book this special voyage, call 407-WDW-PLAY.  You will meet with your party at the Contemporary Resort for a spread of snacks and drinks, and you get to meet Captain Hook and Mr. Smee.  When you're full and happy from al the snacking, you are escorted to waiting boats on the Seven Seas Lagoon, and you are entertained on your boat by Patch the Pirate.  The boat takes you past the Electric Water Pageant on your way to a special spot from where you can enjoy the Wishes fireworks at the Magic Kingdom.  This voyage was great fun, and there were a couple of birthdays on our boat, which made the trip even more special!

Enjoy your celebration, and have a magical vacation!
