Hi Lori! First off from one Spartan to a future Spartan, " Go Green, Go White!" She is going to just love attending Michigan State University! You sure are a special mom treating her and her best friend with a trip to Walt Disney World! You will find lots of special ways to celebrate this time in her life without breaking the bank.
I would look at staying at at value level resort these will be huge on Disney theming but kind to your pocketbook.
Disney's Pop Century Resort is one of my favorites. I would also consider purchasing the Disney Dining Plan, it is a great way to save about 15% off the price of meals while you are at Walt Disney World. The Disney Dining Plan would allow your family to enjoy a celebratory meal at a character dining location, and believe me even teenagers love hugs from the
Big Cheese.
Some of my favorite things to do at Walt Disney World do not require you to spend extra money. Be sure to pick up I'm Celebrating, and Happy Birthday buttons when you arrive from any guest service location, they are sure to get your girls lots of smiles and maybe even a few extra pixie-dusted surprises. These items are free and make terrific scrapbook keepsakes.
Teens will also love exploring the Downtown Disney area, it is like a huge outdoor shopping venue with lots of entertainment the whole family can enjoy. Consider planning a day to just lounge by your resort pool. I know as a girl from Michigan, I loved working on my tan whenever I could, especially in the warm Florida sunshine.
Lori, if you have any other questions this Spartan would love to continue to help you plan an unforgettable trip for your daughter and her best friend.
Sparty On,
~Jen
