Hello, we would like to bring our granddaughter for the first time during the Halloween Season. When is the best time to come to take advantage of the trick or treating and after hours magic? And when will tickets for that event go on sale?

    Boo To You, Ken!

As Oogie Boogie would say, "Well, well, well. What have we here?" Welcome to the house of planDisney! Have I got a Treat for you! Let me give you the skinny on Halloween at the Disneyland Resort!

Every year from early September to the end of October, the entire Disneyland Resort is decorated to celebrate my personal favorite season: Halloween! The Cast Members really go all out to get into the "spirit" of the Season. Your granddaughter is going to love seeing all the characters dressed in their finest Halloween costumes at both Parks.

Over at Disney California Adventure, Oogie Boogie casts his spell to summon the Villains into our world! Last year, tickets for Oogie Boogie Bash went on sale towards the end of June, so keep checking the Disney Parks Blog for the latest news and updates. These tickets sell out very quickly, so you'll have to act fast! The event happens on select nights from September through October, with the final one usually on Halloween night. Your granddaughter will be able to come to the event in costume and go trick-or-treating at the many Treat Trails there. Bring an extra bag for all the candy that she'll take home!

As for the best time to go, dates closer to Halloween are definitely more popular. In September, Southern California can still be quite warm, and it can be uncomfortable to be in a costume even during the evening. We adults can even get in on the fun as long as the Costume Guidelines are followed!

While Oogie Boogie reigns over Disney California Adventure, Jack Skellington takes the Haunted Mansion in Disneyland Park and transforms it into the Haunted Mansion Holiday. It's a wonderful homage for Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas fans. And the seasonal foods are so incredibly tempting! In fact, the Disney Parks Blog just celebrated Halfway to Halloween so you can see just a sampling of what you might potentially get later this year (I hope your granddaughter has a sweet tooth!).

Ken, I hope that this answer was helpful for you! We would love to help you plan your trip, so please reach out to me or any of my pals at planDisney with more questions or planning advice!

“So hurry back, we would like your company.”

Meet the Panelist: Al, California

Ahoy there from the heart of Steinbeck Country in central California! I've been visiting the Disneyland Resort since childhood and fell in love with the sense of absolute immersion that the Imagineers have achieved. My favorite attraction is Pirates of the Caribbean because where else can you go from a California day to an evening boat ride in the bayou with "salty old pirates"? I'm a veterinarian and an all-around Disney geek and enthusiast. I'd love to help you plan your next Disneyland trip! Learn More About Al
