Hi Shannon,
Welcome to planDisney! Thanks for sailing by with your question. From one Shannon to another, I'm excited to say that you will have an amazing time on your Disney Cruise Line vacation!
It is good to think ahead about your
packing plans so you will be ready to go when embarkation day arrives and you can begin your holiday stress-free. While you may bring a "reasonable" amount of luggage, that luggage should fit in two checked suitcases, a carry-on bag plus a personal item. Because your personal item and carry-on bag must pass through the security machine, these bags should be 14" wide x 22" high x 9" deep. I recommend bringing a smaller bag to ensure you have no issues on embarkation day.
A smaller bag will also be easier to carry with you once you board the ship since you will not have access to your stateroom when you board. It can take a few hours before staterooms are ready and until that time, you will need to keep your carry-on bags with you. So, I usually keep my
valuables, medications,
boarding documents, and things like sunscreen, hat, refillable water bottle (
check out this tip for water bottles), and maybe a bottle of champagne (see the
Alcohol Policy before bringing any alcohol products on board) in my carry-on bag.
You are speaking my language with your pre-planning, Shannon! Be sure to review the
Be in the Know Before You Go page on the Disney Cruise Line website and take note of things like your Onboard Activity Booking Window and other tips for making the most of your cruise. And of course, you can sail by planDisney any time with other questions; we are happy to help!
Wishing you many magical memories,
Shannon
