Hi Bret, we will be hiring a car when visiting and staying at the pc.  Wondered if there is anywhere we could view a road map of wdw so we know how best to get around by car. Can a sat nav be used? Have you ever used one and what was your experience?

    Mandy,

The signage at WDW is fairly good, but I'll admit that I sometimes get a little confused when I don't see my final destination mentioned on the sign in front of me.  Maps and GPS devices (or "sat nav") are not usually needed, but certainly can't hurt.

To download a copy of the WDW map, including resort locations and details of the road network, click HERE.

Most GPS systems will have many of the parks and resorts already loaded into their files, but I found the GPS files you can download at www.mousesavers.com to be the most up to date and accurate.  To find this file, simply navigate to mousesavers.com, search for "GPS", and you should easily find an article titled "Using GPS at Walt Disney World."  It contains lots of useful information, including a link to download a customized "POI" (point of interest) file that should work with most GPS systems.

A few months ago I spent a day visiting many of the resorts at WDW, and having this file loaded into my Tom Tom GPS system was very helpful.  I certainly could have either used a map, or relied on the WDW signs, but it was nice to have a GPS system doing most of the work (and worrying) for me.

    Hope that helps.
