We would like to have breakfast at Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary Resort. We are staying at our time share outside the WDW Resort. Are we able to leave our car in the parking lot and take the monorail into MK for the day?

No. You are certainly welcome to take your car to the Contemporary and dine at Chef Mickey's, but you can't leave your car there all day to visit the Magic Kingdom.

When you go to a hotel to dine or shop, you will mention this to the parking/security attendant at the resort when you pull in. They will direct you to a specific parking area and give you a parking pass that will be good for about three hours -- enough time to enjoy a meal, but not enough for park touring. If you'd like to visit the theme park after breakfast, you should just move your car to the Ticket and Transportation Center parking area.
