Hello, Allan! Thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
I must admit that the closest I've come to playing basketball recently is watching High School Musical on Disney+. However, my teenage boys are aspiring hoopsters and love finding a nearby court whenever we are on vacation. Seven Walt Disney World Resort hotels have
basketball courts (ranging from quarter- to full-sized) including:
*Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas — Kidani Village
*Disney's Contemporary Resort and Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort
*Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
*Disney's Old Key West Resort
*Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa
*The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort— (quarter-sized courts are located on 200 Loop, 300 Loop, 900 Loop, 1300 Loop, 1400 Loop, and between 1800 and 1900 Loop).
*Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel and Walt Disney World Swan Hotel
I spoke with three different Cast Members today at Guest Services. While two said that access to the basketball courts is complimentary to ALL guests staying at
Walt Disney World Resort hotels, one Cast Member informed me that guests must be staying at that particular hotel to use the courts. I'm sorry I can't give you a more definite answer. When you check-in, the front desk of your Walt Disney World Resort hotel should be able to call over to one of the resorts mentioned above to confirm Disney's official policy.
I also recommend letting your boys put their basketball skills to the test at the
NBA Experience at Disney Springs. My friend,
Angie, visited recently, and she had a fantastic time! You can purchase your admission tickets ahead of time on the Walt Disney World website.
I hope your trip is a slam dunk, Allan!
