My boys (ages 12, 8, 3) want to stay at AKL for the animals. I want to stay at BC for the location, proximity to good food and the pool. Who do you think should choose? We have been to WDW twice, but have never stayed at a Disney-operated resort.

    Hi Taura,

That is a hard choice as they are both amazing properties that our family has stayed at a number of times. Animal Kingdom Lodge does offer the unique and amazing opportunity to enjoy the animals from almost any location around the resort, There are great viewing areas to sit and watch the animals interact and most rooms offer balconies with these same stunning sights. There is a great pool area, an arcade, restaurants and a breath-taking lobby, however the park is slightly more removed from the parks (except Animal Kingdom of course) and therefore is a longer ride back to the other Disney locations.

The Beach Club is located in an ideal location, within walking distance (or a short boat ride) to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. The Epcot resort area where it is located is also adjacent to the Boardwalk and its number of night time entertainment options. There is a great beach area for relaxing and in the evenings you can watch a free movie on the beach as well as a campfire. The main selling pint of us with the Beach Club is the pool. Stormalong Bay is easily the BEST resort pool at Disney World and is for the use of the Beach and Yacht Club guests. It is a white-sand bottom pool featuring a pirate ship with slide, whirlpool, lazy river, sand dunes, and more. My boys could easily spend a week just enjoying the pool.

My boys also love animals and enjoyed watching them from our balcony, however they love the Beach Club and all that it offers and pick this option every time over any other Disney resort. I think your boys will love the numerous things for them to do at the Beach Club as well as the neighboring Boardwalk and it would be the choice I would make. Don't forget you can take a bus ride over to the Animal Kingdom Lodge and explore the resort and enjoy the animals before heading back to take a dip in the Beach Club pool or catch a show at the Boardwalk.
