Hi Jennifer,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! A first visit to Walt Disney World Resort is always extra magical, no matter what age you or your children are. I have visited with my own three children at various ages and stages, and there is always plenty for them to see and do.
If you and your boyfriend only have a day to visit, I would suggest taking your son to
Magic Kingdom Park. The six lands of the Magic Kingdom each offer attractions that your son would enjoy. Both of my boys like taking a trip around the Magic Kingdom on the
Walt Disney World Railroad. You can board the train at Main Street, U.S.A. and it is a great way to get a preview of the park before you set off to explore. If you get off at the Fantasyland stop, you will be in the perfect area for your son. Fantasyland and the recently expanded
New Fantasyland have attractions and entertainment perfect for little ones. A visit to Storybook Circus for a ride on Dumbo the Flying Elephant will be a magical memory for you all.
Also, be sure to stop by City Hall on Main Street, U.S.A. after entering the park to pick up free "My First Visit" buttons for everyone. You will have Cast Members welcoming you to Walt Disney World for your first visit for the remainder of the day. This is a nice way to have your son feel extra special, too.
Please feel free to send me any follow-up questions as your visit to Florida gets closer.
Have a magical day,
Bob A.
