Hi Hannah! Thanks for dropping by planDisney.
I completely understand wanting to extend your increased access to the magic by upgrading your
SoCal Ticket Offer tickets to
Magic Keys! The SoCal tickets are a great value, offering more days in the park to Guests living in eligible ZIP Codes. Magic Keys also offer cool exclusives, perks, and
discounts, in addition to more time spent exploring Disneyland Resort. It's why I've loved being a Magic Key holder this year.
Multi-day tickets typically can be
upgraded to Magic Keys, while they are still available for purchase with some exceptions. So, your SoCal tickets are probably eligible for an
upgrade. Are your tickets wholly unused or partially used? If your tickets are wholly unused, you have to complete the purchase in person. However, if you've scanned into the parks, you should be able to complete the upgrade in the Disneyland mobile app without waiting in line at the ticket booths near the main entrance. A partially used ticket must be upgraded by midnight on the last day of valid use. I might even suggest hurrying over there to scan into the parks because Magic Keys are popular and it is possible they could sell out while you're in line waiting at the booths.
If your ticket is partially used, you should see a link underneath the ticket on the app offering you the option to upgrade to a Magic Key. You'll need to pay the difference, and prices and terms are subject to change. Be sure you're familiar with the different benefits and
Blockout dates for each Magic Key before making your selection. You'll want to pick one that best fits your needs.
If your SoCal tickets are wholly unused, your boyfriend can attempt to upgrade them both in person at the ticket booths. Since you won't be present, you will probably have to have the Magic Key he purchases for you linked to you the next time you visit by dropping by the ticket booth together to activate the Magic Key. If you're planning on purchasing the Imagine Key, be sure you have a government-issued photo ID with you, proving your eligible residence at the time of activation. You might also make sure he has some basic personal information, such as your e-mail, in case the Cast Member wants to link it to you at the time of purchase.
If your boyfriend runs into difficulty upgrading the SoCal tickets without you being present, however, I think your best bet is to scan into the parks. You don't have to stay! But if the ticket is partially used, you'll probably be able to upgrade on the app rather quickly if they're still available.
Wishing you success in securing your Magic Key!
