Hello, Molly! Thank you for visiting planDisney with your great question.
Planning a Walt Disney World Resort vacation requires many steps, especially when it comes to dining, and I always recommend
making Advance Dining Reservations. There's so much to choose from with character meals, signature dining, buffets, fireworks views, and everything in between! As Chef Remy once famously said,
"This much I know. If you are what you eat, then I only wanna eat the good stuff." Guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel have a significant advantage since they can book reservations for their entire trip (up to 10 days) 60 days before their check-in date; Disney fans like yourself call this the 60 + 10 rule! I confirmed with a Cast Member that if you are within 60 days from your ADRs, they should not be affected. If you have reservations that are more than 60 days out (using the 60 + 10 rule), these, unfortunately, will be canceled.
Also, if you booked a Walt Disney World vacation package, I recommend canceling at least 30 days before your check-in to avoid penalty fees; Room-Only reservations need to be canceled at least five days prior. While some hotel
bookings can be canceled or modified through your account online, sometimes, you'll need to call
Disney Resort Reservations at (407) 934-7639. Another thing to keep in mind is that you will lose any
Disney Park Pass selections you previously made. Check the
Theme Park Reservation Availability Calendar before modifying your plans; currently, the month of May has lots of availability, but capacity will start to fill up as you get closer.
I hope this helps, Molly! Please stop back anytime if you have any more planning questions. See ya real soon!
