Shaun from BC Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

I bought Obi-Wan's lightsaber at Disney World, and I can't figure out how to turn it on. It's the display lightsaber with the changeable hilt to put the blade in.

    Hi Shaun,

Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney. I'm certainly no Jedi Master like Obi-Wan Kenobi, but I'll do my best to assist in your Lightsaber mission.

In my experience, each Lightsaber has an activation button on the hilt which should quickly illuminate the blade. If yours is not responding when pressed it's possible that the blade is not properly inserted into the hilt, or simply that the batteries need to be replaced. I've scoured the galaxy (aka the internet) to see if I could locate your particular Lightsaber and came across this item from This model takes 3 AAA batteries, which are included with the purchase, but the Force may be no longer strong within them. I've also come across a few assembly videos for this Lightsaber which suggest that the thinner display hilt will not allow the blade to illuminate. You'd need to switch to the thicker upper portion for the light and sound effects to function properly.

I realize I may not be the Droid (or panelist) you're looking for in this instance, but thankfully I'm not your only hope. I recommend reaching out to Merchandise Guest Services regarding your product for further assistance. Whether you purchased your Lightsaber from Dok-Ondar's Den of Antiquities within Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge or from Star Wars™ Galactic Outpost at Disney Springs, you'll find Cast Member support available by email or phone.

I hope this helped Shaun. If we can answer any other questions please come back and let us know.

May the Force be with you,
