If I borrow from 2024 points to use in 2023 and then need to cancel do the points go back to 2024 or stay in 2023

Welcome to planDisney, Jerome, and Welcome Home!

I am always happy to discuss my favorite part of being a Disney Vacation Club Member, the flexibility! The ability to Bank and Borrow Vacation Points allow DVC Members to travel in a way that best fits their family. We borrowed Points one year for a longer vacation and banked Points in another year when we may not have traveled as much. Let's take a look at how banking and borrowing can help you maximize your DVC Membership.

Borrowing Vacation Points is a final transaction. So if you did have to cancel a reservation with Points borrowed from 2024, they would become Vacation Points for the 2023 Use Year with an expiration date at the end of that year. Borrowed Vacation Points cannot be banked or transferred. So my advice before you borrow would be to make sure you could complete your reservation or would have an opportunity to reschedule at some point in 2023 so you do not lose those precious points! Another option to consider would be purchasing one-time-use Vacation Points. You have the option to buy 24 additional Vacation Points each Use Year. This may help you still take your dream trip and avoid needing to borrow Points.
