We are booking a week in March at the Disney resort in Orlando. Do we need to book our meal plan and park tickets at the same time or can we add those on closer to the date?

Greetings, Megan, and a very warm welcome from all of us at planDisney!

Thanks so much for coming to me with your question and how exciting that you have a visit to the Walt Disney World Resort approaching next year! I don't know about you, but my family and I love the anticipation before our trips and I enjoy setting up a countdown calendar for all of us to see our vacation getting closer and closer.

If you want to feel like you're on an all-inclusive vacation, adding the Disney dining plan is a fabulous way to go! As you're going about your day enjoying the Magic of the Parks, you won't have to worry about budgeting for food because it'll all be included! I chatted with a Cast Member about your question and was informed that the dining plan can only be added to a Walt Disney World Resort vacation package, so you will at least need to book your room and park tickets ahead of time. The dining plan may be added later to packages that include a Walt Disney World Resort hotel stay with arrivals on or after January 9, 2024. In order to add the dining plan to an eligible package after the fact, just head over to the Walt Disney World Resort website and look for "My Plans" under "My Disney Experience" to find your travel package. Once you do add the dining plan, don't forget to make your advance dining reservations up to 60 days before your arrival!

For your visit next March, I would recommend following the Disney Parks Blog for any upcoming announcements about the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival, which usually begins around that time and is a great way to welcome the coming of Spring! This is one of my favorite festivals because it combines beautiful topiary and floral displays with tasty foods to sample. It's truly a photographer's paradise!

Megan, I hope that this was helpful for you as you continue to plan this magical trip! If you need any more planning advice, please feel free to write back to us again anytime because you're always welcome at planDisney! Until next time!

Wishing You a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow!

Meet the Panelist: Al, California

Ahoy there from the heart of Steinbeck Country in central California! I've been visiting the Disneyland Resort since childhood and fell in love with the sense of absolute immersion that the Imagineers have achieved. My favorite attraction is Pirates of the Caribbean because where else can you go from a California day to an evening boat ride in the bayou with "salty old pirates"? I'm a veterinarian and an all-around Disney geek and enthusiast. I'd love to help you plan your next Disneyland trip! Learn More About Al
