When booking a vacation do we need to select the water park fun and more option to go to the water parks? Or do we need to select this option?

To visit Disney World's water parks, Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon, you do need purchase a water park admission. You can do this in two different ways: by buying the Water Park Fun & More add-on to your theme park admission ticket or by buying a single or multi-day water park only ticket.

Neither of these options needs to be purchased in advance of your visit to WDW. I often counsel people who are thinking about visiting the water parks to wait until they actually get to Disney World to decide. You can upgrade your theme park ticket to a Water Park Fun ticket at any WDW ticket window during your trip. You'll only pay the difference in cost between your regular ticket and the WPF&M add-on. The reason for waiting is that you'll have a much better sense of the weather once you're actually at WDW. Why by the water park option in advance if it will end up being cold or rainy at the time of your visit?

Similarly, if you're only going to be visiting one water park on one day, it makes more financial sense to simply buy the stand-alone one-day water park ticket. If you'll be at more than one water park or spending more than one day at a water park or will also be visiting DisneyQuest, then it makes more sense to get the WPF&M option.
